Due to the hardware constraints of the PSP platform this game is a cut-down version of the standard Football Manager 2006 with a choice of just 6 playable leagues/countries and a total of 15 playable divisions. This was Sports Interactive's first ever game for a handheld console. It is part of the Football Manager (Sports Interactive) series. Football Manager Handheld was first released on April 13, 2006.
